Best Educational Websites for Kids!

Below are a list of websites that I approve of for children of various ages that are educational and fun! Although these websites are safe I still recommend that parents continue to monitor and supervise your children as they explore them!

Starfall
This website is great for children age 3-8. When you first enter the website it will give you the option for pre-k and kindergarten or grade 1-3. On this website your child will find math games, literacy activities, songs and so much more. I used to implement this website every morning with my kindergartener's and they loved it. This is a free website so click here to access.

ABCYa
This website is great for children age 3-12. When you first enter the website you will find several circles that indicate the age or grade level, so choose the best option for your child. Once you select a grade the website will take you to another page with a variety of games that incorporate language, math, strategy and many other skills. When I was working in a kindergarten classroom I would always direct my students to this website when they would play online. It is very fun for the students but very educational so you can feel good that your child is having fun while learning. This is a free website so click here to access.

PBS Kids
This website is great for children age 4-8. There are several options for your child to choose from in terms of topics such as math, science, literacy etc. and in terms of T.V shows such as Arthur, Clifford, Dinosaur Train etc. What's great about this website is that your child will more than likely know the characters in these games because they are based on shows aired on PBS Kids. This is a free website so click here to access.

Sesame Street
This website is great for children age 2-4. Your child will have fun playing these educational games with their favourite Sesame Street characters. This is a free website so click here to access.

TVO Kids
This website is great for children age 3-12. When you first enter the website you will have to option to choose between preschool or school age. Once you choose which path for your child you will be taken to a page with a variety of fun and educational games that your child will enjoy. Your children may also recognize the characters in many of these games if they are familiar with them from the TVO channel on TV. What I also love about the website is that you can watch episodes of those TV shows so its the best of both worlds. This is a free website so click here to access.

Cool Math Games
So the title of this website is kinda deceiving because it's not just math games that are available. When you click on the website at the top of the screen you will see a list of different categories such as strategy, numbers, logic etc. to choose from. This website is more suitable for children age 8-12. Last summer I worked at a summer school and when my students were finished their work I would send them to this website to play, there are hundreds of different games to choose from. Just an FYI some of the games aren't completely educational, meaning it could be soccer games or fighting games so if you are sending your child here just make sure you are monitoring them or setting some guidelines to what is acceptable to play with. Not like the other websites that direct you to age appropriate games this is just open to choose, so please keep an eye on your child while they explore this website. This is a free website so click here to access.

Arcademic Skill Builders
This website is great for children age 6-12. Once you enter the site you will need to scroll down a bit and you will see all the free games based on grades 1-6. There are several categories to choose from such as math, language etc. I highly suggest when presenting this website to your child that you supervise them entirely. I say this because this website joins you in with others around the world, you do not speak to them at all its just set up that the games are like a competition like how Playstation or Xbox have fortnite and it also has paid options so if your child clicks somewhere they are not suppose to it could led them to putting in credit card information. This website has free options like stated earlier and can be accessed here.

Fun Brain
This website is great for children age 3-13. Once you enter the site at the top of the page you will see a list of grades to choose from. Like the other websites above, choose the appropriate group for you child. Once you do this you will be taken to a page with a variety of games to choose from. There are more noticeable ads on this website (nothing inappropriate obviously) but I suggest to let your child know not to click the ads or just supervise them as they play to ensure they are not taken to any other site. They also offer short stories that you can read with your child and you just click the pages to move on. This is a free website so click here to access.

Go Noodle
This is one of my absolute favourite websites for children to encourage physical activity, health and learning. When I used to work in Kindergarten even up to grade 4, the students loved when I put this on. So the way this works is you choose a video and then there are instructions on what to do. Your child may already know of this website because a lot of school use this. You will have to use the family site, it does not offer everything like it does for teachers but it will do! When you get to the page there will be several videos to choose from. Personally I enjoy videos made by (Koo Koo Kanga Roo and Blazer Fresh) but obviously explore around and find what you think is suitable for your child. Like stated early this website is meant to encourage physical activity and requires your child to follow instructions so I suggest putting this on a Ipad or laptop, a phone would not be large enough to view.
